Jakub Kiwior’s development at Spezia convinced Arsenal to invest in signing him at the start of this year.

The centre-back has been restricted to a limited role under Mikel Arteta as he has made 17 appearances for the Gunners, and it includes seven league starts.

AC Milan are keen on bringing the Arsenal player back to the Serie A in the winter market and it has been regularly reported in Italy for the past few weeks. Calciomercato provides the latest on this case.

Stefano Pioli is currently without Pierre Kalulu, Mattia Caldara, Malick Thiaw, Simon Kjær and Marco Pellegrino due to injuries. This has forced the Rossoneri to start preparing for the winter market as they are trying to bring in two new centre-backs.

It’s said the ‘first name’ on the list is Kiwior and a ‘concrete attempt’ will be made to sign him in January.

Milan technical director Geoffrey Moncada and sporting director Antonio D’Ottavio like the Poland international. Calciomercato state the two officials have been ‘working intensely for a few days’ to try to sign him on a loan deal with an option to buy.

As things stand, Arsenal don’t seem convinced to let go of the defender. Despite this, the report explains that ‘discussions will continue’ for a potential deal in January.

AC Milan winger Samu Chukwueze knew he was destined for the top, even if he was rejected by Arsenal earlier in his career.

That’s according to journalist Blessed Ekene, who details the winger’s failed move to Arsenal, after he starred in the Champions League for Milan this week.

The winger joined the Italian side in the summer but has endured a difficult time so far, with the loss to Borussia Dortmund this week seeing him bag his first goal for them.

He had been the star of the show for former club Villarreal for several years after joining them from Diamond Academy in 2017 in a €500,000 deal.

He went on to make 207 appearances for the club in the intervening years, managing 37 goals and 31 assists in total and plenty of attention from around Europe as a result.

Before his move to Spain, he had been close to joining Arsenal, who had scouted him at the Under 17 World Cup in 2015 and been left impressed by what they saw. That move never happened and he instead ended up in Spain two years later.

After bagging his first goal he’s very much looking forward than back, with Ekene insisting that failed move to Arsenal has not dampened his ambitions in the slightest.

“Playing there (Villarreal) was an important step in his development because it gave him the opportunity to do his job without too much pressure,” he said.

“If you remember, after Nigeria’s triumph at the 2015 Under-17 World Cup he was about to join Arsenal, but the deal didn’t go through.

“In hindsight, it was better this way for him: he faced high-level teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona and showed that he could very well compete in that important top flight.

“I believe that even then he knew that he was destined for the top, because the negative epilogue of the negotiations with Arsenal had no negative repercussions on him, and even if there had been he didn’t have any negative repercussions. he never showed: he remained focused and continued training with the other boys until he moved to Villarreal.”

Arsenal and Barcelona have been regularly named as contenders for Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi in the past few windows.

Sport state Arsenal and Bayern Munich were willing to pay €60m to secure his services in the last window.

The midfielder’s decision to continue at La Real has paid off as he’s further developed at the club.

The San Sebastian club believe Zubimendi has improved the mental aspect of his game. The Spain international’s environment points out his performances for the national team as another aspect which is ‘key to his confidence’.

Sport highlights all this when explaining the two obstacles [€60m asking price and the player’s refusal to leave Real Sociedad] faced by Barcelona to sign him in the summer.

Zubimendi’s deal lasts until 2027 and and the report says he’ll be one of the main attractions next summer. When discussing his options, both Barca and Arsenal are mentioned, as these two sides are ‘still very aware’ of his situation.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already shown willingness to pay €60m to sign the Spaniard and they may consider making another offer next summer, if they can convince the player to leave Real Sociedad.

As Arsenal have been named as one of the main competitors for the signing of Arthur Vermeeren, they aren’t forgotten in an update from TuttoMercatoWeb on the chase for the player.

The Italian outlet features a fresh story to talk about Napoli’s interest, claiming the Serie A side are very keen on adding him to their midfield.

The website then says there are many clubs watching him closely, and Arsenal is one of them. The Gunners are said to be ‘ready’ to put €15m ‘on the table’ for his signing.

Mikel Arteta’s side don’t seem to be in pole position, though, as it’s ‘first of all’ Barcelona who are chasing the midfielder.

Another problem for Arsenal is that €15m may not be enough to convince Royal Antwerp, at least not in the January transfer window. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Belgian side want €25m to sell in the middle of the season.

It’s only at the end of the season that the club may analyse other offers, although the Euros may have pushed his price up by then.

The Argentine media this week reports Arsenal’s interest in River Plate youngster Agustin Roberto.

The news comes from outlet El Crack Deportivo, who features a story on some talents from the Buenos Aires side who’ve been drawing attention from European clubs.

It’s said Arsenal are keen on the 17-year-old, and River Plate president Jorge Brito is ‘on alert’ about the Gunners’ chase.

The story claims that even though the Argentine club don’t want to lose the player, they’re ‘attentive’ to a potential offer from Mikel Arteta’s side.

We must just point out that El Crack Deportivo is not among the most traditional sources in the South American country, so we should perhaps wait for more reliable stories before buying those claims.

Agustin Roberto is still part of River Plate’s youth ranks, as well as Argentina’s and is still to make his professional debut.

The winger had a great record in the U-17 World Cup this year, with eight goals in six matches, and that’s where he may have drawn interest from Arsenal and other European sides.

The rumours surrounding Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic may have gone quieter in the past few weeks, but we shouldn’t forget that Premier League sides have been said to be chasing him.

Not long ago, reports from Italy said Arsenal have ‘high interest’ in signing the centre-forward, as they’re ‘willing to pay’ and get the transfer done soon.

It turns out that, as Bianconera News today features some quotes from Niccolo Ceccarini on Radio Bianconera, it’s made clear that Arsenal would need a big chunk of money to complete that signing.

While Juventus aren’t actively looking to sell Vlahovic midway through the season, it’s made clear that should the right offer come along, they already have a replacement lined up.

“I don’t think Vlahovic will move in January unless a very high level offer arrives at the club, for example if Arsenal come and put €100m on the table, Juve have the money to immediately take David and sell Vlahovic, but it is clear that this is a very unlikely operation.”

Vlahovic has five goals and one assist in 11 appearances for Juventus this season, and struggles to convince him that he should be the number one striker in the team.

That’s what makes him a negotiable asset for the Old Lady, although Arsenal and others will need to show up with attractive offers to get a deal done.

Widely seen as one of the more exciting prospects currently at Arsenal, Charlie Patino is on the radar of many clubs.

For now, they have to make do with watching him play at Swansea City, where he is on loan for the season, and excelling.

He will return to Arsenal in the summer, which is when clubs could make a move, including AC Milan, who are eyeing him closely, as claimed by intermediary Michele Fratini when speaking to Pianeta Milan.

Describing Patino as a ‘primordial’ footballer, the ‘pure talent’ is seen as a ‘real playmaker’, which he believes is hard to find these days in England.

He spends a lot of time hyping up the young footballer, before revealing that ‘everyone in Italy wants him’, and that includes Inter Milan, Juventus and the aforementioned AC Milan.

The belief is that would cost any interested club ‘around €25m’, which remains to be seen, especially when everyone knows how highly Patino is rated as Arsenal.

Fratini then goes out on a limb and says the midfielder ‘really is a phenomenon’, who never risks losing the ball and is ‘very confident’.

If you ask us, you can’t say all of that and then believe that Arsenal will only want €25m for him, especially when his contract with the Gunners runs until 2025.

Arsenal and Manchester City will take a look at Ajax youngster Jorrel Hato sooner rather than later if he continues his impressive rise in the Dutch side’s first team.

That’s according to journalist Suleyman Öztürk, who believes the defender will have big clubs lining up for him before too long.

Hato is establishing himself in the Ajax first team this season after being handed his debut by interim boss Johnny Heitinga in February aged just 16 years and 10 months.

He’s started all of their 12 Eredivisie games so far as well as their qualification games for the Europa League and their four group games as well.

He’s very much been the bright spark in an otherwise disastrous season for the Dutch giants, with many predicting a big future for the 17-year-old based on what they’ve seen so far.

It’s unlikely that his performances won’t have gone unnoticed by the big clubs in Europe, who have regularly plundered Ajax for their top talents over the years, with the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Mathijs de Ligt and Jurrien Timber all making big exits in recent years.

The latter ended up at Arsenal after impressing from an early age and Öztürk believes they, alongside Manchester City, will be looking at Hato sooner rather than later.

“The calm he maintains during his goal shows that he comes from a certain education,” he said.

“He reminds me a bit of Jurriën Timber when he has the ball. The ease with which he plays football, and he is not too tall. He is not a colossus of a defender, but based on his technique he knows how to move effortlessly.

“His speed of action is high, and he passes so cleanly. He makes almost no mistakes when in possession of the ball.

“If he continues to develop like this, Arsenal and Manchester City will also take a look. It represents a value of one hundred million euros. Maybe he will become the first player that Ajax sells for more than €100m.”

Unless something changes between now and the end of the January transfer window, the general consensus is that Arsenal will not want to let Jakub Kiwior go.

The defender has played little under Mikel Arteta this season, but with a lack of real depth at the centre-back position at the Emirates, letting him go, even on loan, would only weaken the Gunners.

That won’t stop clubs from trying, however, as Calciomercato report that AC Milan are still eyeing up the Poland international for a potential January deal.

They explain the Serie A side have decided to reject the idea of signing a player currently without a club, but they also ‘don’t want to waste time’ ahead of the next transfer window.

That’s why the idea ‘would be to try and get’ Kiwior on loan from Arsenal, which is described as a ‘difficult but not impossible track’.

He isn’t the only name they have lined up, but certainly appears to be one of the first on their wish list if they can get it done, meaning this story, as unlikely as it is to happen for the time being, doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.

Arsenal looked at signing Manchester City’s João Cancelo before he joined Barcelona on loan in the last window.

That’s according to Sport, who mention Arsenal in a report that focuses on the La Liga side’s plan to retain the 29-year-old beyond this season.

It’s said the Catalan club are clear the Manchester City owned player must continue at the Camp Nou.

The defender has convinced the Blaugrana and it’s now their job to agree a deal with the treble winners. Sport say it won’t be easy but Cancelo will do his part to extend his stay.

Pep Guardiola’s side were keen to cash in from his sale in the summer window, when he was wanted by Arsenal and a few Saudi clubs. However, the Portugal international only wanted Barcelona and that forced the Citizens to agree for a loan deal.

His deal at the Etihad lasts until 2027 and due to his ‘difficult relationship’ with Guardiola, it’s claimed the Premier League winners will open the door for his exit.

Barcelona wanted to include a €30m purchase option, which wasn’t agreed by Manchester City.

The report states Cancelo is valued at €50m and the Citizens believe that will increase, after his impressive performances for the Spanish giants. He could also receive offers from elsewhere next summer, which would complicate Barca’s efforts to keep him at the club.

Cancelo ‘absolutely prioritises’ staying at the Camp Nou and this would give Barcelona an advantage when negotiating with Manchester City. Sport indicate a new loan deal with a mandatory purchase option could be a solution after this season.
