On November 8th, Italian journalist Valter De Maggio stated Liverpool are hovering over to sign Napoli’s Piotr Zieliński.

The attacking midfielder has seven months left on his deal and there’s no clarity on his future beyond this season.

Calciomercato.it provide the latest on this situation and also mention Liverpool’s interest in the 29-year-old.

It’s said the Naples club will have scheduled more than one meeting with Zieliński’s agent Bartlomiej Bolek before the end of this month, to discuss his client’s renewal.

Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis believes the proposal offered is ‘important’, taking the player’s age into account. There’s still a gap between the two parties and it remains to be seen if it can be reduced during the upcoming meetings.

Inter, on the other hand, have made an offer worth €4m per year plus bonuses. The former Udinese man is also wanted by other clubs, and this is when Liverpool are mentioned.

It’s claimed the Merseyside club are in the picture, where Jürgen Klopp is an ‘old admirer’. In addition to the Reds, Juventus are also in the mix, given he’s liked by former Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

With a deal expiring in 2024, Liverpool and other clubs could be in contention to take him away from Napoli for an affordable price in January or for free next summer.

On Friday, Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister gave an interview to Clank Media in Argentina, relayed by Varsky Sports, where he covered a variety of topics.

Signing for the Reds in the summer, the Argentine arrived from Brighton, where he had broken through following a transfer from Argentina.

He is now fully acclimatised to the Premier League, starring with Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp, whom he is ready to pretty much do anything for.

Speaking about his role at Anfield and his ability to play wherever the manager puts him, he said: “I feel like a team player, ready to take the place that Klopp tells me to take. At first, he saw me as a right-sided midfielder, but then I switched to playing as a five, and that benefits me a lot.”

While he is happy to play wherever he is asked to on the pitch, the midfielder had a few things to say about how players are looked at these days.

Often, we can see statistics being thrown around about how much a player has run during a game, with some using that as a barometer for the amount of effort is put into a performance.

For the Liverpool player, however, that means absolutely nothing.

He said: “I’m really not interested in knowing how much I ran. If you tell me how many good forward passes I made, that interests me much more. You have to know what to look at and what not to look at in the statistics. It’s a tool but it’s not everything.”

Mac Allister was also asked about You’ll Never Walk Alone and the impact it has on players at Liverpool.

He added: “It’s the most beautiful and strongest thing about Anfield. It was beautiful to hear it for the first time. It is an unforgettable and strong moment.”

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz as they eye a potential move in the future.

That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say Liverpool are ‘following him closely’ despite Juventus’ having big plans for the future that include the youngster.

The website reports that Yildiz has long been on the notebooks of talent scouts across Europe and the hype around him has only increased now he’s a part of the first team squad under Max Allegri.

According to CM.it’s information, there is one team in particular who have circled him in red and that is Liverpool.

Their sporting director Jorg Schmadtke has followed the youngster closely since he was at Bayern Munich and has put him forward as an option to Jurgen Klopp, who is looking for a striker with his characteristics.

Yildiz is capable of playing as a false nine or as an offensive winger and that would suit Klopp, who regularly rotates his forward line.

They already have youngster Ben Doak on their books, but the belief is that Yildiz ‘would be compatible’ with him should he be brought to Anfield.

At the moment the Reds are only showing ‘preliminary interest’ but CM.it believe that a move from Liverpool ‘cannot be ruled out’ in the coming months when an assessment on Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota will be made. In other words, one could leave and Yildiz would be the replacement.

At this moment in time Juventus are not interested in letting the player go and consider him a star of the future to keep hold of.

They, though, need to raise cash and if Liverpool were to move seriously and make a ‘major offer’ that ‘spares no expense’ then it would have to be considered.

Toulouse striker Niklas Schmidt has admitted he was left in awe of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and his ‘extreme aura’ when they met recently in the Europa League.

The striker has been speaking to Kicker about life at the French club, where he is currently enjoying plenty of success, particularly in Europe.

They recently enjoyed one of their biggest nights ever as they secured a 3-2 win over Liverpool and in Group E of the Europa League.

Goals from Aron Donnum, Thijs Dallinga and Frank Magri secured the victory and put the French side on course for the knockout stages of the competition.

It was a big moment for the French side, who not only secured a win against much bigger and historical opponents in Liverpool but also over a squad full of world-class stars led by a manager who is also considered one of the best in the world as well.

That was something Schmidt was more than aware of given his own German heritage and he admits he was left in awe when standing next to the Liverpool manager.

“We didn’t say much to each other, other than a “hello,” but I felt very small being right next to him,” he said.

“You usually only see him on TV – but he seems much bigger. You can just feel his extreme aura.

“There are also a lot of players who say that he is an incredibly good coach, even though they haven’t played that much under him – if you can manage that, you really haven’t done much wrong.”

OGC Nice’s Khéphren Thuram was linked with a move to Liverpool in the last window and continues to be on their transfer agenda.

Last month, we relayed news from Italy that Juventus would have to face competition from the Reds in the chase for the 22-year-old.

Tutto Juve now state Liverpool are making a ‘strong move’ to sign the midfielder, who is also desired by the Serie A side.

The France international’s deal lasts until 2025 and he’s made 11 appearances in the league this season. He’s been sought after by several clubs and the report states Jürgen Klopp’s side are ahead of both the Old Lady and Inter Milan in the transfer race.

It’s said Liverpool have asked the conditions needed to secure the player’s services. The website adds the Merseyside club are ‘ready to invest’ £45m to buy the Frenchman.

With these conditions, Tutto Juve explain that Liverpool ‘start as the favourite’ team to sign Thuram.

It’s not made clear if the Premier League side are looking at the Nice star for January or next summer. If it’s the former, Calciomercato state a deal remains difficult to carry out.

The French club are second in the table, a point behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. With Nice in the title race, Calciomercato say they will not let go any of their key players in the winter market.

Donyell Malen’s recent decision to change agents is fuelling reports that a move to Liverpool could be on the cards.

That’s according to BILD, who say the Reds still have the forward ‘on their radar’ and Jurgen Klopp is ‘keeping an eye on him’.

The newspaper explains that a recent series of events around Malen have caused some concern at Borussia Dortmund about the Dutchman’s future.

The brand-new development is that Malen has changed his agents, swapping from Mino Raiola’s former agency, now headed up by Rafaela Pimenta, to the ‘Dutch XXL agency SEG’.

They’ve already been publically celebrating the capture and one interesting tidbit is that they currently have Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo on their books. They facilitated the deal that took him to Anfield, so the connections are already there with those in charge of the Reds.

And BILD insist that Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the player too, having nearly signed him in the summer of 2021 before his move to Dortmund.

That interest has not gone away, and the newspaper insists Liverpool have Malen ‘on their radar’, while Klopp ‘is still keeping an eye on him’.

Now whether the change of agent now means things are being ramped up ahead of a transfer is debatable, but players very rarely switch agents unless they’re planning a big change.

At this point it would be strange for Liverpool to be chasing Malen given they have needs elsewhere in the squad and their forward line is very well stocked, but perhaps if one of those players were to leave in the coming months, Malen would become a serious target again.

When the final whistle blew and Liverpool lost 3-2 to Toulouse in the Europa League, the vast majority of the players sought each other out for handshakes and perhaps one or two shirt swaps.

However, Darwin Nuñez wasn’t in the mood to share pleasantries with Frank Magri, who scored his team’s third in the 76th minute.

A video circulated showing the Cameroon international shaking hands with Mohamed Salah and then get blanked by Liverpool’s Uruguayan striker, which the player has now commented on in a chat with La Dépêche du Midi.

The forward made it clear he doesn’t anything against Nuñez and explains he was half-expecting it.

He said: “We got into it a bit during the game in one or two challenges, so at the end, when I see him coming… Before putting my hand out, I see his look and I expected it, that’s why I laugh afterwards.”

Magri made it clear on a separate occasion that he wasn’t affected by the Liverpool star’s action and that he certainly ‘didn’t lose sleep’ over it.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a decent season with the Ligue 1 side so far, scoring four goals and assisting once in 16 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool may no longer seem to lead the race for Fluminense midfielder André, but they continue to be seen as a potential destination for the 22-year-old.

Today, we get to see some interesting comments on his possible transfer coming from TNT Sports.

That all started with pundit Tati Mantovani claiming Liverpool may find other solutions to the job that Alexis Mac Allister has been doing in midfield. She then asked journalist Bruno Formiga whether he thinks André, who’s expected to soon move to Europe, is a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Formiga agreed with it, and gave a few reasons why the Reds should go after the Fluminense star.

“I think without a doubt. Because André, he is a guy who takes pressure very well. He gets off pressure very easily. He clears the field very easily. In the rotation, he gives options all the time and that, for what Klopp likes, to speed up the game often, I think he fits in an absurd way,” said Formiga.

“Because remembering, MacAllister plays this role at Liverpool, in the Argentine national team he will do something else. If you look at what he did against Brazil, it’s another movement, he’s in a more open midfield line to the left side than in a central lane. I think he did well in the game but I understand that it shouldn’t be Plan A for a team that already had other figures, playing this role with other characteristics. André, I don’t know if Liverpool will come back or try André again, but…”

“Because this way, the Club World Cup can make André worth even more. Imagine if Fluminense eventually beats Manchester City, playing well. But I think he has everything to fit into Klopp’s game model. A lot of things. I think he fits into several. I think he plays easily at City, not as a starter, but I think he fits in. I think he easily plays in Liverpool’s team.”

Fluminense have been confirming that André’s exit from the club is ‘imminent’. He’s only expected to play the Clubs World Cup in December and soon get sold to make a move in the January transfer window.

Liverpool remain being mentioned as one of the interested parties, although the Brazilian media has been saying that it’s Fulham who are closer to a deal with the Rio de Janeiro club.

Jurgen Klopp is “truly a master” of making the best of any given circumstances and deserves praise for doing it again with Liverpool this season.

That’s according to Sky Germany’s Rene Adler, who has praised the Liverpool manager ahead of their clash with Manchester City today.

The Reds travel to the Etihad this afternoon in arguably the biggest game of the weekend, with the Premier League leaders hosting the team currently closest to them.

Manchester City sit top of the table with 28 points from 12 games so far, but Liverpool are close behind in second with 27 points from their 12.

It’s been a return to form for Jurgen Klopp and his team, who suffered last season and finished in fifth place, four points outside of the top four and the Champions League.

That was a severe drop for a side who finished second the year before, just a point behind Manchester City, and who have regularly challenged them for the title over the last few years.

This year’s push appears to be built on the changes implemented in the summer, with Klopp and his team completely rebuilding their midfield with several signings after the departures of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner.

And Adler believes the German coach deserves praise for how he’s dealt with that, and other issues such as injuries and drama off of the pitch.

“Kudos to how Jürgen Klopp and the Reds managed to come back from a weaker and injury-hit phase and find themselves in second place again in the midst of upheaval,” he said.

“Klopp is truly a master of making the best of the given circumstances. For years, he has been thrown clubs between his legs that he cannot influence.

“This season, for example, this includes the lengthy injury to Andy Robertson and the kidnapping drama involving Luis Diaz’s parents. You have to say: Chapeau. Klopp is a master at dealing with life situations. That also carries over to the team – that really impresses me.”

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has hailed Ryan Gravenberch’s transformation at Anfield so far this season, stating it makes him wonder what went wrong at Bayern Munich.

The German player turned pundit has been speaking to TZ, about Liverpool ahead of their clash with Manchester City this weekend.

Part of the discussion was the renewal that the Reds have undergone in the last few months after a summer window of rebuilding for Jurgen Klopp and his team.

That involved a particular focus on revitalising the midfield, with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson heading to Saudi Arabia and James Milner leaving for Brighton before being replaced by several new signings.

One of those was Ryan Gravenberch, who arrived in a move from Bayern Munich after a miserable year with the German giants.

He had joined them as of the rising stars at Ajax but endured a difficult year as he struggled to establish himself and barely featured under several managers.

He’s been slowly integrating himself into the picture at Liverpool with a series of impressive performances in the Premier League and Europe seeing him getting back towards his best.

Hamann has certainly been left impressed by what he’s seen, so much so it’s led to questions of what went wrong in Bavaria.

“Gravenberch is doing it outstandingly so far. It’s almost unbelievable that he was barely used at Bayern under two managers,” he said.

“People always used to ask me what it was like. I couldn’t say because he never played for Bayern. Now in Liverpool you can see what he can do.

“Gravenberch has a good physical presence, a decent finish and also a certain pace. When you see him at Liverpool you really wonder why he didn’t play a role at Bayern.

“After what had been a messed-up year for him, it was clear that he wanted to make a fresh start. From my point of view, he seems to be a good character. I can’t imagine that he allowed himself to be hanged in Munich. And now he is an integral part of a class team at Liverpool.”
