Newcastle United are in the picture for Estudiantes de La Plata star Benjamín Rollheiser, according to multiple reports from Portugal.

The 23-year-old has been mainly used as an attacking midfielder and on the right wing, while also being used as a striker and other positions on a few occasions this year. He has scored 12 goals and registered eight assists from 56 games.

Newcastle have taken notice of his form and versatility, and today’s Record states he is ‘coveted by’ the Magpies.

This is mentioned when explaining Benfica are targeting the player and even contacted the Argentine club to find out the conditions needed to carry out the transfer.

Eddie Howe’s side are also tagged in a short report from today’s Correio da Manhã. It’s said the Eagles have set their sights on the Argentina U23 international, who is also on the radar of the Tyneside club.

Rollheiser has a contract until 2025 and the newspaper states he is currently valued at €8m. This should be affordable for both Newcastle and Benfica.

With the Portuguese club already making contact with Estudiantes, Newcastle will have to step up their efforts, if they want to sign the player.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Enso González will be part of the Paraguay U23 squad for the Pre-Olympic Tournament in January.

That’s according to their youth team coordinator, Elvio Paolorosso, who told Versus Radio that Wolves have given the green light to release him next month.

The Wolves youngster joins Inter Miami’s Diego Gómez as the two players who will be made available at Paraguay U23 manager Carlos Jara Saguier’s disposal.

“We have permission from the clubs of Diego and Enso so that they can join the U23 team,” he said.

According to Versus Radio, the winger and Gómez’s addition will be of ‘great help’ for Jara Saguier for Olympic qualifiers in January.

Another report from the same outlet claims these fixtures are not a FIFA event and clubs are ‘not obliged’ to release their players. Despite this, Wolves have decided to allow the 18-year-old to represent his country.

The Premier League side signed González from Paraguayan side Club Libertad in the last window and is yet to make an appearance for Wolves’ first team.

Gary O’Neil has included him in the squad for the opening day defeat to Crystal Palace and also in the EFL Cup loss against Ipswich Town.

González has made four appearances for Wolves U21 this season and hasn’t scored or registered an assist so far.

On November 8th, Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt confirmed Nottingham Forest’s approach for Nino and also stated there could be progress in the negotiations after the FIFA Club World Cup.

Bittencourt made this claim days after the 26-year-old said he’s aware of the Tricky Trees’ interest.

The Premier League side’s pursuit of the centre-back is again reported by Torcedores, who now claim his ‘future will be at Nottingham Forest’.

During an interview with Charla Podcast, Fluminense director Paulo Angioni has revealed his side have identified Orlando City’s Antônio Carlos to strengthen the defence.

“We will hire on time. We have a defender very advanced in this process, who is Antônio Carlos. And we are waiting for Fernando [Diniz] to comment on other positions. We have to worry about exits,” he said, as quoted by Torcedores.

Nottingham Forest have received encouragement in the pursuit of the Fluminense player after their director confirmed he’s set to leave the club in January.

“We are going to work hard on exits. There won’t be many. I believe the departures will be punctual. Nino and André are players who are about to leave. We have to work in secrecy,” Angioni explained.

The Fluminense director’s comments are also relayed by CNN Brasil, who then share their own short update on Nino. They claim the defender ‘has an agreement’ with Nottingham Forest.

The two outlets haven’t mentioned Fluminense’s request or the fee Steve Cooper’s side are willing to pay.

Nino has scored five goals and registered two assists from 54 games this year.

On Friday, Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister gave an interview to Clank Media in Argentina, relayed by Varsky Sports, where he covered a variety of topics.

Signing for the Reds in the summer, the Argentine arrived from Brighton, where he had broken through following a transfer from Argentina.

He is now fully acclimatised to the Premier League, starring with Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp, whom he is ready to pretty much do anything for.

Speaking about his role at Anfield and his ability to play wherever the manager puts him, he said: “I feel like a team player, ready to take the place that Klopp tells me to take. At first, he saw me as a right-sided midfielder, but then I switched to playing as a five, and that benefits me a lot.”

While he is happy to play wherever he is asked to on the pitch, the midfielder had a few things to say about how players are looked at these days.

Often, we can see statistics being thrown around about how much a player has run during a game, with some using that as a barometer for the amount of effort is put into a performance.

For the Liverpool player, however, that means absolutely nothing.

He said: “I’m really not interested in knowing how much I ran. If you tell me how many good forward passes I made, that interests me much more. You have to know what to look at and what not to look at in the statistics. It’s a tool but it’s not everything.”

Mac Allister was also asked about You’ll Never Walk Alone and the impact it has on players at Liverpool.

He added: “It’s the most beautiful and strongest thing about Anfield. It was beautiful to hear it for the first time. It is an unforgettable and strong moment.”

Back in September after Aston Villa beat Chelsea, Douglas Luiz took to social media and sent an indirect swipe at his national team manager, Fernando Diniz.

He had been left out of that Brazil squad despite his great form, and made it rather clear that it had affected him by pointing out in his post that he was of Brazilian nationality and was ‘calm, calm’ about the situation.

The Aston Villa midfielder has since been called up by Diniz for the latest international break, and has now apologised for his social media outburst in an interview with ESPN Brasil.

Asked about it, he said: “It was something a little hasty. I’m not the type of player to say a lot, but at that moment, I really deserved it. But not everything happens in our own time. Sometimes we work, things don’t happen the way we want and we get a little frustrated.”

Even though he was called up to the Brazil squad for the last round of fixtures in the World Cup qualifiers, Luiz only played a total of 20 minutes, first coming on for eight minutes in the 2-1 loss against Colombia before adding an extra 12 to that in the 1-0 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Argentina.

Despite the results, the Aston Villa star admitted he was ‘happy to be back’, and would continue to work hard to ensure he doesn’t fall out of favour again, especially with an aim of playing in the 2026 World Cup.

For the past six months, Chelsea have been heavily linked with the signing of Corinthians’ Gabriel Moscardo.

Numerous articles in Brazil have been written about the topic, with some even claiming that a deal with the Stamford Bridge side was done.

However, Paris Saint-Germain have recently joined the fray, and completely turned everything upside down, at least according to Foot Mercato in France, leaving Chelsea in their dust.

The website claims that the Ligue 1 side have now made a €22m offer for the player, coming a few days after reports that the Blues had a €20m bid rejected, clearly trying to make the most of the opportunity.

Corinthians, down their end, would like €25m for their star, and negotiations are continuing between the two clubs to try and find a ‘total agreement’.

The biggest problem for Chelsea, other than the fact their offer has been rejected, is that Moscardo now ‘wants to join’ Paris Saint-Germain in January.

That is seen as a ‘big step forward’ for the French club, and they are also being helped by Corinthians, who don’t want ‘negotiations to last forever’ and the idea is to ‘reach an agreement in the next few days’.

L’Equipe also have an article on Friday on the matter, explaining that Paris Saint-Germain are ‘advancing’ in the transfer, but have not made an official offer yet.

Chelsea thought they had a lead in the race to get him, but it appears the French side have now overtaken them.

Now, Luis Campos ‘is awaited in Brazil in the next few days’ to meet with the player’s agent, Rodolfo Ximenes.

In short, Chelsea need to act very quickly if they don’t want to lose out on Moscardo, but appear to have a lot of work to do to convince him that a move to London is better than Chelsea.

If you ask us, this all feels very reminiscent of the Manuel Ugarte saga, and we all know who won that.

Even the Spanish media is now having a say on the race for Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo.

Sport feature a story claiming Barcelona would also like to buy the player from Corinthians, but it’s really Paris Saint Germain who have ‘pole position’ in this race.

Following recent reports from Brazil which said Chelsea had an agreement for the player, the outlet writes that there have actually been ‘very significant’ moves ‘in recent hours’.

PSG reportedly took the lead by entering the bidding ‘very strong’, as there’s a ‘rush’ at the French club to get the signing done as soon as possible.

Sport writes that Barcelona director Deco made ‘several moves’ for this transfer in the past few weeks, but it’s not clear whether the Camp Nou side could compete in the auction.

According to the outlet, PSG are forcing a ‘radical turn’ by taking ‘advantage of the gap left by Chelsea’, as if the Blues were no longer a strong competitor in this race.

Reports from Brazil have indeed been claiming PSG are looking strong, and it remains to be seen whether the Stamford Bridge side really gave up.

On November 17th, Rádio Itatiaia stated Atlético Mineiro had given up on the possibility of signing Nottingham Forest’s Gustavo Scarpa after he decided to continue in Europe.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Tricky Trees at the start of this year, has been on loan at Olympiacos since the last window. He has clocked in just over 400 minutes from 11 games this season and has been linked with a move away from the Greek club.

Internacional have become the latest club to show interest in the Nottingham Forest man, according to Globo Esporte.

The Brazilian club believe the former Palmeiras man could form a partnership with the likes of Alan Patrick and Charles Aránguiz, if he were to join them. This is why they have now identified the 29-year-old as the main transfer target.

It’s claimed the South American club have been talking to the attacking midfielder for ‘two weeks’, to try to convince him to ‘accept the offer’.

Sources close to the Nottingham Forest owned player have told Globo that his plan is to ‘remain in Europe’, to showcase his qualities, which hasn’t happened just yet.

If Scarpa were to be convinced, the outlet doesn’t specify whether Internacional want him on loan or a permanent transfer. Nottingham Forest’s stance on a potential transfer is also not mentioned.

It seems Chelsea will soon have the chance of having Kendry Paez at their headquarters.

The 16-year-old, who was bought from Ecuadorian side Independiente Del Valle, now has to wait until he turns 18 to be able to complete the transfer to Stamford Bridge.

However, as Mach Deportes today interviewed the South American’s side sporting director Roberto Arroyo, it was revealed that Paez will soon pay Chelsea a visit.

“We just had Kendry Paez’s visa accepted, and now we have to wait for Chelsea FC’s planning for him to travel.”

In a recent interview, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino had already claimed that Paez is set to spend some time at the club to start his adaptation.

Olé points out that this visa is very important for him, as the player was recently blocked from travelling to the United States because of a similar permit in the North American country.

Independiente Del Valle are still playing the final games of the Ecuadorian League, so Paez’s trip to the United Kingdom shouldn’t take place in the coming weeks.

There’s big expectation in South America around the wonderkid’s potential, and Chelsea shall have a taste of that in case they can get to use him in training.

Over the past few months, we saw reports from South America claiming Newcastle United are one of the contenders for the signing of Estudiantes star Benjamin Rollheiser.

It was back in August that it was claimed the Magpies were interested in the player, with their chase getting backed up earlier this month.

It turns out, however, that Newcastle may be falling behind in the race for him, because according to Cesar Luis Merlo, Benfica are also in this hunt.

The journalist writes that the Eagles have ‘concrete interest’ in Rollheiser, as they have already opened talks with Estudiantes for the transfer. In fact, the Portuguese side are said to be leading the competition right now.

The good thing for Newcastle is that the La Plata side will only negotiate a transfer after the Argentina Cup final next week, so there’s still some time for the offers to be put on the table.

Reports from August said the Magpies wanted to spend €10m on his signing, so this feels like the right time to make their bid official all the while keeping an eye out for Benfica’s competition.
